I was 12 years old when
you told me not to laugh
at boys
"Don't ever laugh at boys.
Don't laugh at boys,
because they will feel
stupid."
It wasn't until much later in my life
that I realized that
you were wrong.
Because my brain, emotions,
and mind
are just important as
those little boys,
who taught me,
that for the rest of my life,
I should cover my body if I want respect.
I should close my mouth if I want to be seen.
I should be pretty and tend to others needs.
I am 21 years old, and
I am smart, and I will
laugh at the things that
I find funny.
